I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua will face Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be streamed in real-time on the streaming platform.

British boxer Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "defeat" the American as the combatants confronted each other to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge uneven pairing - at Miami venue on 19 December.

Fighter's Attitude

"I plan to damage his features and damage his physique. I'm here to prove my superiority," Joshua, 35 years old, stated.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I intend to genuinely try to hurt him. That's my intention."

Respectful Exchange

In spite of such comments, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - shared friendly words and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian declined a fight offer.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, at the same time, targeted UK rival Tyson Fury - and declined a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"[Paul] outshines Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

In spite of saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's pugilistic talent.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who initially became famous on the Disney Channel - has mainly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice continues to be one of boxing's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial paydays.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old predicted a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and stated he would prevent the long-awaited match between Joshua and Fury, which is reportedly under discussion for two years from now.

"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul said.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters met for the customary face-off, with their physical disparity evident, it emphasized just how unlikely this whole event is - and how amazing it is that the match is actually going ahead.
