A person who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males aged between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a young boy.
The accused was held in detention before a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a youth camp which he ran.
The man played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "for many years", and children had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She stated the man had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "This year his family member had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel explained items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She said Ruben went on to play the "sweet game" with six boys that time - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not responded by that point," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She explained Ruben then engaged in the "treat game" in a room of five children.
